School Counseling

MTI implemented a schoolwide counseling program to ensure all students and teachers have the social and emotional support to be empowered and successful in and outside the classroom. MTI strives to enhance techniques around conflict-resolution and bullying prevention to improve the emotional well-being of students K-12. Our school counselor also serves as a mediator between teacher/student conflicts, and student/student conflicts.

Imen Mitiche is a mental health and behavior specialist. She is currently serving as the school counselor at MTI. She works with teachers and students to create a positive school culture where everyone can feel safe, respected, and valued.

Mental Health Counseling

Imam Ahmed Al-Amine and Ms. Imen Mitiche often work as a team to provide mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and enhance social functioning to students and their families. By combining the science of mental health as well as the sunnah and fiqh, our specialized team can better help our families overcome any difficulties they may be facing.

Social Emotional Learning

Social and emotional learning is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. MTI has launched a social emotional curriculum that will be implemented along with a restorative justice approach to teach students how to build relationships with one another, their teachers and their classmates. We teach mindfulness, empathy, and teamwork. Here at MTI we empower our students to voice their concerns and work with them to find solutions to any life problems. our students matter. We make it our priority to understand them, give them space to voice their concerns and work with them to find the best possible solutions to any problems. Through our partnership with Peace Learning Center we equip our students with all the necessary skills to succeed in life beyond their school years.
