Due to concerns over health and safety issues related to COVID-19, we have decided to start the 2020-2021 school year online for the first two weeks, Aug. 17 – Aug. 28, 2020. After this time, we will begin in-school learning as soon as we can safely do so following our face-to face learning plan, In Sha Allah.

MTI has ordered computers for our students on a need basis. Please submit an email request to MTI counselor, Imen Mitiche at imen.saadeh@isimti.org stating your computer needs. Please include your name, your child’s name, and their grade level.

Alhamdulilah, our teachers and staff are excited and ready to begin teaching this school year! We have a new online education format that includes the following improvements:

Improved methodology for Qur’an and Arabic classes

Curriculum for Islamic Studies has been redesigned specifically to meet the challenges presented by COVD-19 with more emphasis on projects rather than exams

Canvas Learning System for grades 1st – 12th

Adjusted schedules for each grade level

All digital format, no paper copies to scan or submit

Teachers will present real-time, live lessons from their classrooms in our new building

Use of Nearpod, Epic, Edpuzzle, Flipgrid and more to enhance student lessons, as well as extensive teacher training in online education

MTI Learning Hubs at our new building for students who are unable to attend online

As always, we pray for the safety of all our families and staff, May Allah SWT, grant us the wisdom to make the right decisions that provide the best educational environment for our students and families, Ameen.

We appreciate your continued support, patience, and understanding in these difficult times. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school office at 317-923-0328 or by email at: khitam.salem@isimti.org

Hours of Operation

MTI School of Knowledge will operate Mondays – Fridays between the hours of 7:45am – 12:10pm, inshaAllah.

Students are expected to arrive on campus for Drop-Off between 7:45am – 8:00am.

After Drop-Off, Students will be personally escorted by Staff to their respective classrooms while maintaining safe, social distance between them, inshaAllah.

Roster Division

As we said in our last email, the reason why we are limiting days at MTI to specific genders is to address some safety issues specific to this school year:

Limiting Class Size: According to the CDC, safe, social distancing is one of the most effective ways to reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission; therefore, we will be limiting each classroom to a Maximum of 15 Students in our new School Building, inshaAllah. With the large classrooms that we have available to us in the New School Building, Students will be kept at least 6 feet apart in all directions, inshaAllah. With fewer students in each classroom, it will also be easier and quicker to clean and disinfect each classroom between instructional periods, inshaAllah.

Maximizing Available Restrooms on Campus:
Alhamdulillah, our New School Building has quite a few available restroom facilities. This will, inshaAllah, allow us to limit each restroom facility to one student at a time to better reduce chances of Fecal-Respiratory Transmission of COVID-19.

As a reminder, MTI School of Knowledge will adopt an alternating schedule this year with gender specific days:

Online and On-Campus Learning

MTI School of Knowledge will, inshaAllah, accommodate all families and their needs. Families that prefer to have students on campus may do so on specific days, and families that are not comfortable with that have the option of distanced learning online. We pray that Allah, Most High, guide and protect us all; ameen.

Safety Measures on Campus

With the Help of Allah, Most High, we have set some guidelines to help ensure the well being of our Staff and Students, inshAllah.

All Staff and Students will have their temperatures checked before entering the School Building and again when exiting. Any Students or Staff that have temperatures of at least 100° Fahrenheit or above will not be permitted entry to the building and will be barred from reentry until they have maintained no fever, without the aid of fever reducers, for a minimum of 48 Hours.

All Staff and Students must diligently maintain a safe, social distancing minimum of 6ft in all directions. To aid in this endeavor, all classrooms will have desks distanced to this recommended minimum social distance. Outdoor Areas, Hallways, and all rooms in the School Building (including the Gymnasium, Auditorium and Cafeteria) will have Social Distancing markers and reminders clearly set.

All Staff and Students will undergo training related to the transmission and prevention of COVID-19.
